Please help us I.D. this micro-organismHello,
We have a found an organism living in a human which we cannot as of yet identify. We are not trained professionals or anything, so excuse our ignorance (if any is detected). Please take a look at the following link which has four images and two videos taken through a microscope of the entities in question. If you have any insight, clues or ideas concerning this, please do not hesitate in replying here or by using the link at the bottom of the webpage. Please know that we consider this to be very important and will greatly appreciate any feedback. If more information is needed to draw a conclusion, please do ask. Thanks for your time, here is the link: http://examineyourself.info/unknown/ Chris
Re: Please help us I.D. this micro-organismHi
My gutts feeling, and to keep the ball rolling, they appear to be Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria. Regards, Koyal Last edited by koyal on Sun Aug 23, 2009 2:14 pm, edited 1 time in total.
First, interesting parent website...
Second, those are incredibly high resolution images and are not exactly indicative of what dark field microscopy usually looks like.. What equipment are you using? What is the magnification and numerical aperture on the objective you're using? Third, you say you found an organism living in a human. Have you taken any steps to identify it's domain? Any staining at all? (ie, gram +/- or nuclear staining, etc..) It's near impossible to identify an organism with the information you provided. Senior Undergraduate Researcher, Center for Ecogenomics

Re: Please help us I.D. this micro-organismYes... the parent website is rather interesting :0)
I was going through my server tonight and deleted a bunch of stuff... including the page I had posted above. As mentioned above, what we had was inconclusive. We sent the cultures out to be PCR tested and will know for certain what this is any time now. Thank you both for your input.
Re: Please help us I.D. this micro-organismHey,
That is very interesting. Please keep us posted about the results of PCR tests. Also just out of curiosity, what magnification factors were used in those pictures? Regards, Koyal
