Heart transplantDoes the person who donates a heart has to have the same blood group as the recipient?
"The roots of education is bitter, but the fruit is sweet" Aristotle
Yes. There are fourteen different blood types. To transfuse blood, both the ABO and the RH factors need to match (A+ can give to A+ patients). To transplant a heart, all fourteen blood types need to match, rather than just the two.
@Kyle
What exactly causes the subgroups? I mean what causes the difference between A1+ and A2+? I never could find this in any book "As a biologist, I firmly believe that when you're dead, you're dead. Except for what you live behind in history. That's the only afterlife" - J. Craig Venter
Kyle will not be happy about this but I want to know about them too.
@Kyle: Calm down Kyle. It matters not how strait the gate

Q: Why are chemists great for solving problems?
