Does the person who donates a heart has to have the same blood group as the recipient?

Yes. There are fourteen different blood types. To transfuse blood, both the ABO and the RH factors need to match (A+ can give to A+ patients). To transplant a heart, all fourteen blood types need to match, rather than just the two.

What exactly causes the subgroups? I mean what causes the difference between A1+ and A2+?
I never could find this in any book
