Is there a sebaceous gland for each and every hair follicle ?
Are there hair follicles without a sebaceous gland?
How does the gland behaves in the course of the growing, resting phases?

- Yes, every hair follicle has its own sebaceous gland. Only mammals has this gland.
- The secretion of sebaceous gland, called sebum, is via holocrine system (secrets whole contents of the gland). Sebaceous glands secrete their sebum into hair follicles. The sebum then escapes to the surface of the skin through the same route that the hair uses, out the follicle. This oily fluid on our skin helps to further protect our skin, coating it with a hydrophobic armor to keep out water and maintain our internal fluids (osmoregulation, homeostasis).

If each follicle has its own gland, what happens with it when hair passes through the growing phase to the resting fase?
Does the gland also have phases? Is there some difference between the secreted oil?
