Wildlife biology

Postby bribri2200 » Thu Jul 02, 2009 12:37 am

I am 15 years old and really want to be a wildlife biologist. What jobs and/or places to volunteer in washington state could I do that enables me to field work? Also I have been trying to find colleges with a wildlife biology major do you know of any good colleges with that major?
Thanks,

USFWS, BLM, FS are federal agencies you could try to volunteer with, or at least do a job-shadow at.

I don't know what the names of the WA state agencies are, but look them up too.

There are tons of not-for-profits that address wildlife in one form or another.

I think most organizations would be thrilled to have a 15 year old kid interested in what they do. Just start calling and making connections.

I agree with Astus on this one. Volunteer work would be a great way to get started. Search your city for volunteer agencies. For example; here in my city we have Volunteer San Diego with many openings for volunteers in all forms of nature protection.
