What general pathways can be initiated by the release of cytosolic Ca 2+ ion?

My attempt at beginning a post where I wanted to see how many possible ways the Ca2+ ion has in biology failed. I thought it would be cool to see all the different signaling pathways.

I have a favorite of mine that is from devbio, so I will attempt again to start it.

Ca2+ ion released from intracellular storage in the egg upon fertilizaation, starting at the point of sperm entry. This calcium wave is the initiator of the cortical granule reaction that slowly blocks polyspermy and creates the fertilization envelope. Beginning the whole process of development for the zygote.
