Food-borne illness and invasive organisms
The term usually does not include the consequences of invasive organisms acquired via the food supply (though the broader term foodborne illness accommodates these conditions.) --quoted from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Food_poisoning However, I want to clarify the meaning of "invasive organism". Is parasites such as tapeworm an example? Sorry for asking such a simple question. Thanks.
It depends - the effective definition isn't a clear-cut line.
You can pick up organisms, like Salmonella, and have it called food poisoning or a food-borne illness. If you pick up some sort of toxin, it's likely to be called poisoning.
Thanks! In addition, I want to know something more about "non-toxin" examples for more interpretation on conditions belongs to "Food-borne illness" but not "food poisoning".
