Negative effects of catabolic metabolites

I have a presentation due on friday on this topic/questions: Trans Fats are produced during the hydrogenation of vegetable oils. Discuss the deleterious effects that Trans Fats have on the body. Include a description of how the catabolic metabolites negatively affect the body. The majority of I have no problem with, yet am struggling with the last sentence. I understand that catabolic metabolism is considered destructive yet can't find the actual correspondence it has when introduced to trans fats or the negative effects it has on the body unless the anabolic / catabolic properties are not in equilibrium. Any advice or helpful links would be appreciated. Thank you!
