Back again. I'm a little confused about these next questions. Here is one:

This is an example of a insertion mutation.
- TACTGTTGCGAATGCAATT-

Determine the correct sequence of amino acids coded for this strand.
So I found the mRNA:
- AUGACAACGCUUACGUUAA-

Then found the tRNA:
- UAC UGU UGC GAA UGC AAUU?-

Therefore the amino acids are:
Tyrosine, Cysteine, Cysteine, Glutamic acid, Cysteine, Asparagine? or Isoleucine?

I am confused because there is no Start or End. Is there not supposed to be one because it is a mutated gene? Should or can they be rearranged? Also what do I do with the extra nucleotide at the end? Am I even doing this right? Help! Can anyone explain this to me? Thanks!

the genetic code lists the amino acids using the mRNA sequences, not the tRNA anticodons (AUG is a start codon). that should give you your answer
