Homework help! So, I'm taking a Bio course through correspondence and I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around this section.
Here is my question. Any help would be appreciated and will hopefully get the ball rolling. Here is the mRNA strand: AUGACACGCUUACGUUAA A) How many nucleotides are there in this strand? B) How many codons are there in this strand? C) Show the tRNA anticodons that will bond with the mRNA codons. D) Show the correct sequence of amino acids coded for by this mRNA.
Re: Homework help!a) its easy just count the letters since each one represent one nucleotide.. and here its 18
b)i think that each three nucleotides form one codon then there s 6 codons (as i remeber) c)im not sure about the tARN but i think it will be : TACTGTGCGAATGCAATT d) the correct sequence should be written in a special board on ur book, no one could memorize it, search for it, or ggogle it.. PS: I TOOK THIS LESSON MANY MONTHS AGO SO IM NOT SURE OF MY ANSWERS SPECIALLY C) HOPE IT LL HELP
Re: Homework help!Hey,
A)How many nucleotides are there in this strand? 18 B) How many codons are there in this strand? 6 C) Show the tRNA anticodons that will bond with the mRNA codons. UAC UGA GCG AAU GCA AUU D) Show the correct sequence of amino acids coded for by this mRNA Tyrosine, Cysteine, Alanine, Aspargine, Alanine, Isoleucine
Re: Homework help!A) Singular strand of nucleotides - therefore we have a total of 18 nucleotides.
B) A codon consists of three (3) nucleotides - 18/3 = 6. C) UAC UGA GCG AAU GCA AUU D) I am assuming we are using (AUG ACA CGC UUA CGU UAA): 1. AUG = Methionine (start codon) 2. ACA = Threonine 3. CGC = Arginine 4. UUA = Leucine 5. CGU = Arginine 6. UAA = Stop [Not entirely sure about the last, but the sequencing seems to work out correctly]
