Could someone help me with this question?

Postby llgone » Wed Feb 18, 2009 4:24 am

Hi, I'm just starting with biology and I'm stuck on this one question. If anyone could help explain how I would do it that would be great. Thanks!!

An organism that is 1/2 the field diameter at 300X is to be drawn to a scaled magnification of 500x. What will the diagram size be?

Measurements: Field of view 25x at 6.0mm (not sure if this is correct)

You calculate the scaled magnification. I know the formula its diagram size/actual size ( actual size is fov/fit?) but how would I use it here?

Again Thanks.

it's bigger by 5/3 compared to the 300x view. Now you have to figure out how big the scaled drawing is for the 300x view.

Not aware of the 0.6 mm figure. There are sized plastic spheres that can be used and micrometer slides with measures etched.
