Tobamoviruses

Tobamoviruses

Do tobamoviruses like tobacco mosaic and tomato mosaic work by lysing the host cell, or do they essentially "work the cell to death" by overusing the host's metabolism? I've found conflicting sources, but I think the latter is correct, but I'm not sure.
