Photosynthesis questionNote: This is not a homework question. This is part of a study effort for a big upcoming test.
Question: What is photolysis? HOW is photolysis accomplished (proteins, etc.)?????? Progress on question: My textbook says that it is accomplished by enzymes but wikipedia and many sites have different definitions of photolysis (they describe different processes) from my book. I got really confused and turned here.
just look at the part of photosynthesis that involves the use of water to make hydrogen and oxygen.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; ~Niebuhr
well, the wiki seems to be correct http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photolysis ... osynthesis
The process is not carried out by enzymes, but by P680. "As a biologist, I firmly believe that when you're dead, you're dead. Except for what you live behind in history. That's the only afterlife" - J. Craig Venter
Thanks very much for your response!!!!!!!!!!!
so my textbook was wrong???????? oh well... wait! The wiki says that the OEC (oxygen evolving complex - part of photosystem II - the same complex that does photolysis, is an enzyme). I think I get it now. Thanks for everyone who replied!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
