sir2 and sch9 are good genes or not?

some said if you knock out them, you can liver longer.
some said they are good, if u get one more copy of sir2, you can live longer.

which is right?

More is better, according to the abstract. I can't read the whole article. I'm sure my university subscribes to science, I just don't know how to access the subscription.

sir2 (SIRT1) in mammals is a "longlivety gene" in mimics the effect of calorie restriction (which leads to longlivety) and protects from a variety of disorders. SIRT1 KO mice are very, very sick and die at the age of a few weeks (a year with special diet and conditions). So, yes more is better.
And I'm working on it...
