Relation between Storks and New World Vultures

I think many of you could be aware of the relationship between storks and Vultures

If you have time you can read the link provided above.But you might need to know about the different computational phylogeny methods to understand the paper.
Anyways do you think such a "relationship" is possible.Or do you think it might be a flaw in the method of alignment used or the different methods used to get the phylogenetic tree.
Or do you think such relationship is possible.
I have also encountered with a similar problem.Thats why i wanted to get some suggestions.......

Hmm It is kinda hard to believe that, when you can look at a stork and vulture and analyze their physical characteristics, a person would most likely say "hey that new world vulture has got to be more closely related to an old world vulture than a stork." just by looking at them. But going on perception isn't always the best way to go.

I can believe it, but I would like to see more studies done on this topic done by different scientists. I believe that it could be possible due to convergent evolution and that these characteristics we are noticing between new world and stork are homoplastic.

But yea, there could be an error in testing but I have not done methods like these before(I am only somewhat aware of them) so I can't really give you any details of where they could of went wrong.

can convergent evolution take place in DNAs as well???
I thought it might be a more phenotypical factor???
