About urine formationDid you know that your kidney filters 180 litres of blood in 24 hrs. It only takes about 4-5 min to filter the whole blood of our body. Most of the filtrate is absorbed and only small quantity pass out as an urine.
Actually the kidney creates 180 liters of primary urine every 24 hours. But blood has, in addition, cells and proteins.... So the quantity of blood filtered is more than 180 litres
So i guess, yeah... i did know
Actually 180 litres of primary urine is including proteins, glucose, water, salts, minerals, amino-acids, etc. So we call it primary filtrates.
The excess of water in primary urine (including glucose, proteins, amino-acids, vitamins and minerals) are reabsorbed in the tubulus contructus proximal (about 80%) and it's called obligates reabsorbtion. The rest 19% (cause our body only reabsorb till 99%) is absorbed in the ansa Henle, tubulus contructus distale and vesica urinaria and it's called facultative reabsorbtion (reabsorbed when the body need). so, in the last stage, which is Augmentation, the quantity of urine is less than 180 litres (except you have diabetic melitus or diabetic incipidus, that's a different case Q: Why are chemists great for solving problems?
A: They have all the solutions.
Actually it's not until 180 litres a day. Just think that water:
water = 1 gr/cm3 => 1kg/dm3 => 1 kg/L 180 L x 1 kg/L = 180 kg so, if we pee 180 litres a day then our weight will be more than 180 kg isn't it?? What I think is Kiran give the wrong information about the amount of the urine filtrates... Q: Why are chemists great for solving problems?

Actually no... If you were to completely eliminate primary urine you will have a whole deal of problems like loss of nutrients etc
But the main problem would be loss of water.... So, if there was no reabsorbtion in the nephron you would have to drink 180 litres of water per day.. The number is wrong... Think of it like this: the same molecule of water goes into primary urine, then is reabsorbed, then goes back to primary urine etc...
