Salt water fishHi all!
I came across this question but not sure how to tackle it. I've provided ideas below. Q. Why is filtration rate of salmon increased and reabsorption rate decreased when it moves from seawater to fresh water? I have a feeling it has something to do with concentration levels of salt in water. Reabsorption rate decreases because they're preventing their cells from bursting ?? Filtration rate increases because they want to filter excess salt intake?? Im just not sure exactly how it all works. I'm aware of osmosis and think that plays a big role too. Im just not sure how it all fits in together and if im right. Help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers
Re: Salt water fishReabsorption: When a substance that has been circulating in the body is taken up by the organs or cells.
Filtration : The process of removing suspended particles from water by passing it through one or more permeable membranes
