genetic dissertationHi all, im a final year student in forensic science and I am doing my dissertation on low copy number DNA profiling. I am so confused because apart from the detection & amplification protocols, its reliability & limitations and case studies I don’t know what else I need to put in. can anyone help me and tell me what is it exactly I need to look for please?
I would think that the problem of contamination and its effects on reliability would be a critical factor for forensics application. When confronted with DNA evidence, the first point attacked by defense attorneys is usually the chain of custody and the potential for contamination. Certainly this is worth discussing in some detail. For a high-profile case study consider the OJ Simpson murder trial, where the defense aggressively undermined the reliability of the DNA evidence.
