rat ventricular muscle

Hi,

The other day we did an experiment which involved increasing the concentration of calcium and adding to the organ bath containing a strip of rat ventricular muscle...the results were that with higher concs. an increase in force was seen..just wondering is this due the the calcium induced calcium release mechanism?? if not..can someone please explain what?
