Importance of Biodiversity

Postby soliix » Sun Sep 28, 2008 9:13 am

Aldo Leopold, the father of ecology, once said, "The important part of intelligent tinkering is to keep all of the parts." How does this phrase associate with the importance of maintaining biodiversity?

I think it may be saying that to remove a species from an ecosystem could cause a degree of harm therefore it would be "intelligent" to maintain all species (parts). I'm sure someone will be able to expand on this a lot more than me I could be way off.

What he's really saying is that in order to grow as an individual and expand your understanding, comprehension, and knowledge it's important to do the proper research and logical problem-solving and find your own answers to homework assignments.
