I think its the rhinocerous beetle which is the strongest insect know to carry stuff 400 times its own weight.But i am not sure if this "fact" is true.But it can certainly carry more load than an ant. "Nothing in biology makes sense except in the light of evolution"

Among vertebrates, the crocodile is a strong contender because of the force of it bite. Overall, I think the claws of some shrimp produce some of the strongest force relative to body size. According to what I saw on the Animal Planet channel, of course. :p

Basically you've all repeated the same thing, strength is all relative to size.
So the snake you're talking about could easily be weaker than an ant or a beetle. Suppose it depends on what you mean by animal. You could say you know what the strongest snake is... Maybe even reptile. J o n e s i e
