Mystery flower

Postby beesmyer » Sun Sep 14, 2008 7:22 pm

Can anyone please help identify this? We had this appear in our bed here in Utah where we didn't plant anything. Now my wife would like to plant them. Thank you very much.

This looks like the asymmetric flowers of lobelia. There is one common species sold in nurseries, trailing Lobelia erinus, originally native to California that might what you found be but there are many species.

Dunn's lobelia is another native
