Pituitary gland

Postby Rik » Sat Jun 14, 2008 2:58 pm

Ive been reading about gigantism and the fact a lot of rapid growth resulting in tumours etc. controlled and released growth hormones results in excessive height. Is there scientifically a treatment to do the reverse and stimulate the gland to release more growth hormones in shorter people?

When HGH became available through recombinant bacterial production (the supply before that was very limited), the FDA approved a controversial study to give it to short children who were not deficient. They did not get any taller than controls.
