I think i'll get a PhD in "Cow Chip Collecting" and call it a day too. lol. Jeez. All of the eggs (i guess i should say most) you buy are simply unfertilized eggs laid by hens. Being a chicken farmer, I collect eggs on a daily basis and they aren't fertilized (the roosters are separated from the hens at the moment). So yes, they can lay them without being fertilized.

I asked a farmer. You guys are right. Chickens do lay unfertilised eggs. He said that aproximately 1/3 of eggs are "not good" as he called them
PS: A farmer that knows fractions! Not a common thing around here
