The liver in detoxification

Postby Draco » Sun Mar 16, 2008 10:59 am

I nned to outline the role of the live in detoxification and the metabolism of alcohol and the long term consequences of exessive consumption on the liver.
If anyone can give me websites that will be helpful.
Sites I already have information from are:
http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/articles/article.aspx?articleID=442
And my text book.
Why can't this be left blank?

It's not easy to sort through all of the let's-sell-you-some-herbal-supplements pages when you search for this, but maybe these will help:

Note that this is a pdf file.

Use the "enlarge" option here.

I can't find the enlarge option. Do I need to to right click or should it just come up?

@Darby: The pdf file is too complicated for the level of biology that I am studing and the other link cannot be found on any computer that I have access to.
@MichaelXY: Thanks for the information but I doubt that I can access this at my school.

If the pdf is too complicated, the other one is probably, too. Sorry about the other - I've used JSTOR on several different computers and have never had any problems with it.

Maybe these will help - there's less on metabolism, but more on effects -

This one is a little technical, but there's good basic stuff in it -
