Should the national flower deserve its all right to represent your country?

Our National Flower is Jasminum sambac or Sampaguita

I don't think Romania has a national flower.
But then again, I didn't know what our national sport was until recently

Panagbenga Festival in Baguio or the Flowers Feast. Roses were really awesome and lovely.
