Placebo during filter validation

Postby ramirez » Thu Feb 07, 2008 10:59 am

Is it acceptable to use Placebo in filter validation when dealing with a very expensive product.

Thanx

Placebo? You mean like using a similar but much cheaper material as a surrogate to "prove" that a filtration method will do what you want it to do? That should be OK for internal, private use, but if this is for any kind of official certification, I don't think that will be acceptable. The FDA would not allow you to claim you can measure material X by filtration unless you demonstrate it with material X, not with just a surrogate in place of X, for example.
