deadly virus causing death in less than 24 hours

Postby edward » Thu Jun 09, 2005 7:15 pm

hello, i live in jordan "its somewhere in the middle-east ",last week one of my friends "25 years old " felt some pain in his knee, he went to the doctor within 5 hours he was in the ICU , his bloodcells started to break & his heart stopped within less than 24 hours, more than 7 doctors (local & international) checked on him & no body knew he was infected with what ! they only knew its some kind of a deadly virus, within the last 3 days , 4 other people died in the same condition .. pain in the knee then pooof...dies within 24 hours...

i am not a doctor...but i know this thing is serious...no body knows how those people got infected !!, i just want to know if anybody in the science field knows anything about that !! how the infection occurs..could it be from water or food !...air !!! what !

I'd try informing the cdc

My first instinct is to say Ebola Hemorrhagic Fever. Go here http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dvrd/spb/mnpa ... /ebola.htm and check for more information. If this fits the criteria you need to visit the link in the previous post and report this to the CDC immediately. This is a VERY serious illness.

Sounded like ebola too, but he said the docs couldn't identify it.

I doubt it. Ebola has very obvius symptoms. Even a 2nd year medical student could detect it

This is a very curious case. I wonder if it will develop into a World News event?

thanx for your replies....
they 1st thought it was the ebola but now they are sure its not..8 other cases were delivered to differrent hospitals in the area in the last 2 days & an american-british team of drs was sent to check on the cases...but the cases are still

many things are confusing the drs ,one of those things is that all the 13 cases got an A- blood type & none of them received any blood before the illness... so could this be a coinsidence !

I can not think of any relation between blood type and a virus. I first thought that it may use the A aglutiongene to enter the cell. But this would mean it would also enter the red blood cells of a AB person. And what would a virus do in red blood cells anyway since there is no DNA there?
Maybe there is something that I am missing...
