plasmid compatibility question

Postby willgratz » Mon Oct 29, 2007 4:29 am

hi everyone,

i am new to molecular biology and i have a question regarding plasmid compatibility...any help would greatly be appreciated:

-if i am trying to put two different plasmids in a cell, what determines if the two plasmids are compatible. i heard i can't put in 2 plasmids with the same oriC in a cell, but is there something else that determines compatibility?

also...
-can someone please explain the differing types of oriC. i have in my notes colE1, a cole1 with a rop deletion, and something about p15A with R factor, but I am totally lost as to what these are.
