I've heard there is a cactus in mexico that has a very weak root, so it is windy the wind makes it move: it gathers the water it need that way. It gives you the impressin that it can walk. Maybe this mexican running plants it that cactus. Only a guess, however

mexican running beans

Postby mothorc » Tue Jun 07, 2005 4:18 am

my teacher said me that mexican running bean is used to reveal the mechanism of enzymes 's role. I think you mean "mexican jumnping bean".
use this keyword on google, you can see why it jump, because there is a worm (larva) live in. and when trying to get out, they make the bean jump
In a high bottle (cardboard), the bean can't jump out but when you make the bottle lower, beans can jump out. enzyme make lower the "activate or needed energy" so metabolism can proceed easily
hope I can help you ( my English is a big problem)

I read about it in a book, I can't realy remember too much about it but it said something about useing chemical energy to move.

do you need something else?
I think you can find more in enzyme biochemistry (in "share biology information" topic, you can find some free protein book , dont care about Rusian title)

Could this plant be related to the mysterious wandering rocks of Death Valley, California?
