Restriction Endonuclease and Bacteriophage Lambda

Postby rikajaj » Wed Oct 03, 2007 9:31 pm

a)What is the name of a restriction endonuclease that has a four base pair recognition site. What is its recognition site? Does the enzyme leave a 5` overhang, a 3` overhang, or no sticky end at all? What is the URL of the site that you used to find this information?

b) The bacteriophage lambda has a linear chromosome of approximately 50,000 base pairs. It can be cut with the restriction endonuclease HindIII. Using the resources of the Internet, determine how many HindIII recognition sites there are in lambda DNA, and what size pieces will result after cutting. What is the URL of the site that you used to get this information?
