Site of the Calvin cycleI've been told that in CAM plants, the site of the Calvin cycle is cytosol instead of chloroplast stroma. But I think Calvin cycle always takes place in the stroma because the chloroplast genome is required in translating the enzyme RuBisCO. If anyone has an evidence that the cycle really happens in the cytosol please tell me, thank you.
The Calvin cycle occurs in the stroma in all plants, including CAM plants.
By the way, if you are interested in molecular biology of chloroplast genomics, you might find it cool that every known protein that is coded in the chloroplast genome is actually coded in part in the chloroplast and part in the nucleus. The Rubisco enzyme, for example, has 8 large subunits coded by the chloroplast genome(which serve the catalytic function) and 8 smaller subunits coded in the nucleus(which serve a regulatory function).
