1 crazy ideaOk don’t laugh hear me out ?
What if I explode a nucleus? And all the stuff inside leaks to the chloroplast. Would it still function? if not why please? How about cell duplication would it form a new compleate cell.
OK I won't laugh at you if you don't laugh at my reply! Deal??
I think as soon as there is any damage to the nucleus which contains the genetic material it needs to be "put down" by apoptosis (Programmed cell death). If it is allowed to survive then there is something wrong with the organism (supposedly). Re cell division this should not occur; the cells should be destroyed before this stage. In humans if they are allowed to survive and divide it may cause cancer. I don't know much about plant biology so I'm not sure if plants get cancer or if there's an equivalent. Hope this is what you are looking for. Remember no laughing!
Thanks mate. I think ill never know till I try it. I think the reason for compartmentalization is to keep the dna safe. I think. Since in the cell itself is lots of chemical reactions. I like you David23 you’re a great knowledgeable man you know how to put light on a subject.
Thanks Katy_Bobbles you’re a genius you gave me a great idea.
Is it true cancer cells don’t die? They have some thing wrong with there clocks?
Glad I inspired you! Cheers for the new title! Genius Katy_Bobbles. i love it! Yup they survive beyond their cell by date. Pun was intended the saddo I am! They are not normal cells and are able to resist apoptosis. They must hence be killed by another way. This may be via radiation, as in radiotherapy or chemicals as in chemotherapy. This link will explain it in a lot more detail. And before you say it I remembered and wrote this all from memory then found the link. So I'm still a Genius! http://users.rcn.com/jkimball.ma.ultran ... tosis.html Just out of curiosity are you at College or University and what are you doing?? If you think I'm a nosey bugger then disregard!
uni 1st year starts September I hope. Bio technology or molecular biology. What you doing Katy_Bobbles.
do you know about inserting dna into cells nucleus techniques?
I'm doing a Biomedical Science degree. Just finished 3rd year and start Honours Year in September!
I don't know much about inserting DNA and all that. We only brushed over it in 1 module earlier this year and not in that much detail. Don't remember anything about it mind you!
I got this idea for HIV virus. why not design an enzyme or a protein that bonds to the HIV virus and reacts with the outer shell so the dna leaks out before digestion by the cell.
Woo I like it. Someone does their homework!
It sounds like a reasonable idea to me. The main obstacle would be the protein would have to bind to the HIV immediately following exposure because HIV has Reverse Transcriptase i.e.it can replicate its own DNA and integrates it into the host cell genome.
