Protein Concentration vs Membrane Fluidity

Postby UnivCalgary » Wed Jun 13, 2007 4:01 am

Hey there,

Just wondering if anyone out there can give me any info or links I can check out relating to my problem. I know that the higher the protein concentration in a plasma membrane, the higher the membrane fluidity. Is there a point at which adding more proteins to this membrane will in fact decrease the fluidity? I'm thinking there is a level at which if the membrane was supersaturated with integral or peripheral proteins the membrane would become less fluid. Any help would be great!

Thanks in advance everyone
