Hot topic for Botany - Possible new blue light receptorAs some of you might know, receptors for blue light in plants have proven the most elusive to chemically identify. Currently, 2 main blue light receptor families are known: cryptocrome and phototropin.
A novel gene family has been discovered, that appears to code for a blue light receptor involved in circadian rithms. The protein has been termed ZEITLUPE protein.
