Conifers which gametophyteHi all
I need to solve following question: Describe which gametophyte is produced in the sporangia on the microsporophyll on a conifer pollen cone? I´m quite sure it´s the male microgametophyte but I know that is not enough to solve the question. What else could I write to describe it? If someone got an idea I would be very pleased Thanx Aloha
I am not sure about the translations:
Ok, so you got the male flower. This This has microsporophiles with microsporanges. These produce microspores- pollen. Each of these microspores is formed of of 2 protalian cells, 1 vegetative cell and one generative cell(4 cells in total). The prothallian cells and the vegetative cell make up the prothallium which is the gametophyte. Regards, Andrew "I have no intention of stopping anytime soon.
