Hi, I am doing effects of some metal cations on biofilm formed by bacteria.

How can I get the basic knowledge of their biological functions to bac?

Sorry, I really dont know. But new plasters (band-aids?) here have silver in them to sanitise small cuts

That's right! But not for heavy metal cation, for example, Na, K, Mg,Ca and the other trace metals.

biofilms are only available in bacterial colonies. It's the extracellular matrix formations that you are interested in studying right?

But I want to know the biological functions of the metal cations to bacterial cells, not biofilm or extracellular polymer substance.
