For one of my biology tasks i need to make a table of the distribution and function of the following tisues:
1. Cilliated epithelium.
2. Goblet cells.
3. Smooth muscle.
4. Elastic fibers.
That is all, thanks.
Well I will give you a clue (as I never do people's homework for them): 3 out of the 4 are involved in removing foreign particles from the lungs.
"What are humans if they don't learn at University? Animals, yes."
^^One of my ex-girlfriends said that. I stress the ex part.
1. cilliated epithelium (real name psuedostratified ciliated columnar epithelium, or PSCC)
locations,Linings of: trachea, bronchi, nasal cavity, portions of male repro. tract.
function: protection, secretion
2. goblet cells
location; found in epithelia of respiratory and digestive tracts.
(digestive tract has simple columnar epithelium which have microvilli, but both contain goblet cells).
function: secret mucigen which converts to mucus when hydrated
3. smooth muscle aka visceral muscle
locations: walls of blood vessels and in hollow organs of digestive, respiratory, urinary and reproductive organs. ex. bladder, intestines, ureters, ductus deferns. ,bronchioles.
function: Moves food, urine, and reproductive tract secretions; controls diameter of respiratory passages (bronchi); regulates diameter of blood vessels.ex. tubular organs peristalsis (moves stuff thru intestines, repro tubes etc.)capable of slow sustained contractions (uterus in birth), involuntary control happens on its own.
4. elastic fibers
location; is one of fibers in connective tissues proper , "connective tissue fibers (3) are formed by fibroblasts by secreting protein subunits that interact with matrix. elastic fibers contain the protein "elastin"
dense regular (stabalizes position of internal organs -deep fasciae-provides firm attatchment; reduces friction btwn muscles; and dense irregular( C. T. both have varying amts of elastic fibers as well as loose connective tissues -LAT-loose areolar tissue , are the packing material of body=fill spaces between organs (fascia) , cushin and stabilize specialized cells in organs and support epithelia. surround and support blood vessels nerves, elastic properties allow considerable movement.
elastic dense regular connective tissue (made of many elastic fibers and other stuff) make up the Elastic ligiments in the neck and down the spine connect vertabrae (ligamentum flavum and ligamentum nuchae); ligaments supporting penis, ligaments supporting transitional epithelia ( bladder made of this) help bladder return to shape after empting, cushins shocks; permits expansion and contraction of organs and blood vessels
function you should get the general idea from above=elastic fibers in the brochi and aveoli inhale =exhale-
Elastic cartiladge- elastic fibers in elastic cartiladge matrix (external ear-epiglottis-auditory canal ...functions support-distortion w/o damage
elastic fibers seem to be just about
could go on but your proberly bored by now
