InbreedingInbreeding may bring together desirable alleles in the homozygous condition. I think inbreeding is like one brother and sister from the same parents have baby together? or inbreeding only refers to animals?because if i was right, then we all know that the baby from a brother and sister will be abnormal because their genes are so similar, so how come here it can be desirable? Hope you can answer me, thanks.
well, inbreeding does go for humans too.
in plants, you select the ones that have the valuable traits. There is nothing to say that inbreeding also results in some abnormal traits in plants too, but you select the valuable ones In incest(inbreeding in humans) there is no selecting, and not many traits can be valuable, can they? I hope you get my point "I have no intention of stopping anytime soon. I want to understand the universe and answer the big questions, that is what keeps me going" - Stephen Hawking
Diversity in species comes from gene flow between populations.
If all the folk mating shared the same genes then they would all share the same mutations and heterozygosity for genetic recessive disorders would increase.
True, but fear not - Queen Elizabeth II is not the result of inbreeding...(or consanguinuity, for a more impressive word).
"What are humans if they don't learn at University? Animals, yes."
^^One of my ex-girlfriends said that. I stress the ex part.
true!, most of the royal family from the 1800's back were related, not like brother sister, just secound aunts and stuff, did you know that the brittish royal family was realted to the russian royal family. also, by the process of in breeding haemophilla got spread round the royal familys, the russian family were all carriers of haemophilla, the brittish royal family had carriers of heamophilla until the late 1860's. interesting stuff.
