I've never heard of alcohol being used to treat any panic disorders, but then I have a limited knowledge of the subject.

Lithium (or more likely a compound of it) is often used to treat psychological disorders e.g. manic-depressive cycles. Could be wrong though.

^^One of my ex-girlfriends said that. I stress the ex part.

Many with panic disorder resort to alcohol because it's a quick, temporary fix for their problems, but in the long run, the cons outweigh the pros and the potential for addiction is greatly increased.

As for what can treat panic disorder... any antianxiety agent. Xanax and Klonopin are common ones. Then you have the SSRIs that have some beneficial effect -- Prozac, Zoloft, etc.
Evolution -- Life's a niche, then you die.
