zoospores and mitotic division

Postby bradpitta » Fri Apr 20, 2007 2:44 am

a zoospore (asexual cell) in chlamydonas, an alga, divides mitoticlly, as do the daughter zoospores during each of the subsequent five divisions. All cells remain viable.

a) how many cells do you expect to find in the clone after the sixth mitosis.

b) develop a formula to indicate the number of cells expected in a clone afer:

one mitotic division
two such divisions
n number of mitotic divisions

This is just a math word problem dressed up in biological terms. Go after the numbers.
