As both of them are caused by deficiency of Vitamin D.

Actually no... Vitamin D deficiency in adults causes osteomalacia...

Rickets = Lack of vitamin D in childhood

Oesteomalacia = Lack of vitamin D in adulthood

Osteoporosis = Due to decreased levels of oestrogen in post menopausal women...
