By reference to the composition of photographic film , can anyone explain how proteolytic enzymes cause the image to disappear ?

Any help would be great thanks .

I guess the first thing to ask yourself is, "What is the composition of photographic film?" followed by, "Is there anything in film that is sensitive to proteolytic enzymes?" Now that everything is digital, it isn't so easy to find articles on how photographic film works. Here is one link that has the information you need.

The binder in film is a common material and should be digestible by at least two enzymes I can think of, and there may be others. If the binder falls off the plastic backing, then the picture should be lost, I would imagine. I don't know if the chemistry of digital images transferred to paper-as in photoreproduced images-is the same or not.
