AP biology Question

A student uses a (A*U*B) tube for a series of experimets. Sides A and B of the tube are separated by a membane that is permeable to water but not to sugar or starch. WHat results would you expect under the experimental conditions given below?

Ψ = Ψp + Ψs

(Hint: Solute pressure is always negative and a 0.1 M solution of any substance has Ψs= -0.23. There, a 0.2 M solution would have Ψs= -0.23 X 2= -0.46)

Experiment a: A solution of 10g of sucrose in 1,000 g of water (the molecular weight of sucrose is 342) is added to side A. An equal volume of pure water is added to side B. What will happen to the concentrations of water and sugar in the two sides over time? Explain.

Open any book about plant physiology or if you're in school - open your book. The issues of water potential are explained in every book.
