Re: the decomposition of methylene blue; this will be for solid material and the decomposition temperature is much higher than boiling water--which is probably about as high a temperature that will be sampled in this experiment. Methylene blue melts and 100-110 C, btw.

The stuff we were given was in solution and thus liquid anyway - might this make a difference? It may be worth squeezing in anyway if the word count allows - better to be safe than sorry as the saying goes

Basically, yes. When there aren't enough active enzymes to produce the reducing environment that reduces the dye to its colorless form, then the blue color should not disappear.

TIs my understanding. But if you're doing what im doing and it sounds like you are, it says you are given the suspension so you dont have to worry about it too much
