ER transmembrane proteins

Postby jayfee » Thu Mar 22, 2007 3:22 pm

How are the first transmembrane proteins entered into the ER?

Only moderator can delete a post. Just edit the content and replace it by "please delete" or something equivalent and the next mod coming around will do that for you. But let's end the Off-topic here and leave space for answers to your question.

ok thanks for the reply muraceae, so is it safe to say that protein translocators (i.e. Sec61) are inserted into the membrane via GPI anchors? I understand how translocators recognize an ER signal sequence to insert a translocator into the membrane, but how is that first translocator entered into the ER?
