Sex is one of animal basic instincts, which the original objective is to reproduce. It is human who uses it for recreation, much worse for commercial things ;) Human is blessed with brain and feeling, some of us exploit them in wrong ways.... well, that's us! :)

What I read from a non-scientific magazine is that, dolphins are like human about this subject.
Does anybody knows anything about this?

I also read that orgasm of pigs lasts for 30 minutes. If they have sex just for reproduction, how can we talk about "orgasm"? Or can we?

PS: As I said before, a non-scientific magazine. The info can be complete rubbish. :)

Yes pig needs at least 20 minutes to "finish" their copulation, it is where the male has enough time for "capacitation", when he ejaculates.

Why at the name of the topic there is insect and animals??? Insects are animals to!!!
I think that many organisms have stage like "orgasm" esspeccialy that has long copulation. And long copulation for garanthy that fertilisation will ocurre. (Longest copulation, as I know, have Odonata - about two days)
Evolution will arrange everything

I seem to remember hearing that there are other species that appear to copulate for "fun" or that masturbate. I'm not about to do an internet search, as i'm on a family computer with kids running around and I know what kind of search results I'll get ;).
What did the parasitic Candiru fish say when it finally found a host? - - "Urethra!!"
