Bone ID

Postby KristenT » Thu Mar 15, 2007 3:21 pm

Hello, I live in Maryland and recently found a strange bone while I was walking at the C&O Canal. I've searched my memory, friends, and the internet and have considered that it might be a sacrum but nothing quite fits. My boyfriend thinks it might even be a bird skull, but it would be a huge bird and the eye sockets seem too small- plus it seems like a spinal cord would go in the top of the inside. I don't have it in front of me to measure but it is about 8 to 10 inches long, I would estimate. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

-Kristen
