help+ not sure?!what is the role of ACTH when the skin is exposed to ultraviolet light?
i have not heard of such a use... maybe you can exapand a bit on what this is about... and the context....
ACTH is a hormone produced by the anterior pituitary gland and its main use is to stimulate production of cortisol from the adrenal cortex...
ACTH directly stimulates the deposition of melanin into the cells of the skin, thus giving you protection against UV light. AN oversecretion of ACTH causes more melanin than necessary to be deposited, resulting in what is refered to as tanned diabetus(not sure about translation..)

Interesting... Is this the reason for hyperpigmentation in Addison's disease?
