The mean ± SD of erythrocyte GSH, ascorbic acid, MDA, SOD, catalase, GPx, plasma vitamin E and GST are reported in [Table - 1]. There was a statistically significant increase in the erythrocyte MDA levels in patients with osteoarthritis compared to controls. The activities of erythrocyte antioxidant enzymes SOD, GPX and plasma GST were significantly increased in group 2 compared to group 1. The levels of erythrocyte GSH, ascorbic acid, plasma vitamin E and catalase activity were significantly decreased in patients with osteoarthritis compared to controls.
