- Biogeographic and species richness patterns of gastropoda on the Southwestern Atlantic

MATERIAL AND METHODS

Data were drawn from five lists of Gastropoda species – Margarita Shelf – Venezuela (10°54'N) (Carvajal & Capelo, 1993); Marataízes – ES (21°10'S) (Floeter, 1996); Campos Basin – RJ (22°30'S) (Miyaji, 1995); Ubatuba – SP (23°30'S) (Pires-Vanin, 1989); Rio Grande – RS (32°00'S) (Absalão, 1986) – and were classified into five patterns of geographic distribution according to Palacio (1980), considering the northern limit of the Tropical Province as Cape Hatteras (35°15'N) (Carcelles, 1944).
